Conserve battery

Use Power Manager to perform the below actions when the battery level goes below 50%:

Reduce brightness of the screen in settings.

Limit internet connection to use only 2G networks.

If the above two dont work for you, try the below steps.

Use wifi, bluetooth, gps only when needed.

Disable autosync.

Setup shortcuts to the setting enable page using anycut to do it easily, alternatively use “toggle settings” app or you can find separate applications for each toggle action on the market.

You shouldn’t need to do all this as the new update will have enough battery life.

after I do all the above steps to conserve battery life….is it still the GI phone or could I have
kept my old phone ?? Why did I pay for 3G, wifi,GPS, etc if battery cannot sustain them throughout
    a reasonable 12 hour day ??

Dont worry, your phone should receive an update from google soon. There are disadvantages to living on the edge.

Ohhhhhhh had I known this, I would not have purchased.. The life of the battery is so SHORT! I have to charge in the middle of the day (after charging all night) and then charge over night!
    Ridiculous!

I’ve switched OFF the setting “Data roaming” and switched ON the setting “Use only 2G Networks”. I then quit the menu using the back button (there is no “Save” option) and return to the menu. The “Use only 2G Networks” has switched itself OFF!

What I am doing wrong?! The phone is an HTC Magic running Kernel version 2.6.29.

    Many thanks
